10 March 2013: First World War commemoration, Virginia, Co. Cavan
Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, accompanied by Danny Kennedy MLA, Minister for Regional Development in the Northern Ireland Executive, attended a ceremony in Virginia, County Cavan, in commemoration of the local men who died in the First World War.
A memorial plaque, installed at the courthouse, was dedicated to the memory of the 24 soldiers from Virginia, County Cavan, who died in the Great War. Wreaths were laid following prayers.
