28 May 2015: Belfast launch of ‘Letters of 1916’ project, PRONI
On Thursday 28 May the Belfast launch of the Letters of 1916 project took place at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) from 6.30-9.30pm. The project was originally set up to create a crowd-sourced archive of personal letters and testimonies relating to the period before and after the Easter Rising, from 1 November 1915 to 31 October 1916. To date, it has collected over 1,800 letters in order to create an online open-access archive of the year around the Easter Rising. This was the latest in a series of events that are aimed at highlighting the project at local level. The launch consisted of a number of presentations and demonstrations, followed by a reception.
