23 February 2012: Babies on Board: The 1916 Rising

Babies-on-Board

‘Babies on Board’ is a regular series of family-friendly events at the National Museum of Ireland. At the ‘1916 Rising’ event on 23 February 2012, parents and their children were given an opportunity to discover more about the 1916 Rising with curator Sandra Heise. The group were given the chance to examine important documents from the time and the beautiful ‘Leabhar na hAiséirghe’, (Book of the Resurrection). This book was created by the artist-scribe Art O’Murnaghan between 1922 and 1951, to commemorate those who had died in the struggle for independence, and to celebrate the ‘resurgent spirit of the nation’.
