‘Assembly memorial chairs’ First World War exhibition, Dublin (various locations), March-May 2017
Assembly memorial chairs is a five year touring installation commemorating casualties of the First World War and is curated by artist Val Carmen with the support of the In Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres. The installation consists of five chairs from Passchendaele church,representing each year of the war and a book with the 174,000 names of the First World War casualties of Great Britain and Ireland who fell in Belgium. This book has space where relatives of the dead soldiers can write their story or leave mementos.
Assembly memorial chairs is on display in Dublin City Library and Archive, Pearse St, Dublin 2 until 30 March. It will then move to Dublin City Hall from 1-30 April, and Richmond Barracks from 13-26 May
