Speaker: Dr Bianca Rita Cataldi

Annie Vivanti (1866-1942) was a prolific Anglo-Italian writer who spent her life between Italy, England, Switzerland, Ireland and the United States. A transnational artist and intellectual, Vivanti married the Anglo-Irish lawyer John Smith Chartres, a member of Sinn Féin. In retracing the steps of her adventurous and rich life, this talk will explore the role Annie Vivanti had in supporting Irish independence through her writing and in personally assisting the Irish delegation in Versailles in 1919.
