8 November 2018: ‘The voice of WW1’, Aidan Heavey Library, Athlone, Co. Westmeath

In November 2018 Westmeath County Libraries will present a series of three seminars hosted by Ciara Murphy exploring three different texts which explore the Irish experience of the First World War. These seminars highlight the importance of both the given and the imagined image, and the dominant and silenced voices of war. They illuminate the intricacies and the challenges in representing war through different literary media and they allow participants to reflect on the war and its impact.

The second seminar took place on Thursday 8 November:  ‘An alternative war: The ‘Irish’ front (Observe the sons of Ulster marching towards the Somme by Frank McGuinness).

The three seminars will all take place at 3pm in Aidan Heavey Public Library, Athlone, Co. Westmeath N37 N625. All welcome, admission free but booking required:  090-6442157 or email [email protected].
