8 December 2016: Finding a voice: Dermot Bolger at the National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks, Dublin 7
On 8 December 2016 the National Museum of Ireland, and Poetry Ireland hosted an evening of performance, music and conversation to mark Dermot Bolger’s residency at the museum. As part of the National Museum of Ireland’s Decade of Centenaries Public Programme, poet, playwright and novelist Dermot Bolger held his six-month residency with us in Collins Barracks from March 2016. Entitled Finding a Voice and developed in collaboration with Poetry Ireland this initiative involved events in the Museum of Decorative Arts and History, Collins Barracks and the Museum of Country Life, County Mayo.
The evening consist of readings by local participants in the adult writing workshops held at the museum as part of the residence, along with music and a public interview with Dermot Bolger. The event took place in the Palatine Room, National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts and History, Collins Barracks, Dublin 6, at 6.30pm.
