On Friday 5 and Saturday 6 February 2016, East Wall for all, in conjunction with the Gallery of Photography (Ireland) and the North Dock Peoples History Project, organised two commemorative community events to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising. Both served as opportunities opportunities to hear details of local events during Easter Week and also for people to share their own stories and family memories. Paul O’Brien performed a series of songs based on the community and its residents during the revolutionary era.
Staff from the gallery were be present and members of the public were encouraged to bring their photos, memoribilia and documents for scanning as part of their ongoing heritage project.
The first of these events took place on Friday 5 February at the Sean O’Casey Community Centre from 6.30pm-9.30pm; and the second took place on Saturday 6 February at the Pastoral Centre, North Wall from 2pm-4.30pm.
