4 September 2014: Minister Humphreys opens Cumann na mBan exhibition, Ballina, Co. Mayo
On Thursday 4 September Heather Humphreys TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht, opened a new exhibition on Cumann na mBan at the Jackie Clarke Collection, Ballina, Co. Mayo. The collection is the most important private collection relating to modern Irish history in public hands, consisting of over 100,000 items. It was amassed by the Ballina businessman Jackie Clarke (1927-2000), and was bequeathed to Mayo County Council by his widow Anne in 2005. This new exhibition, which draws on material from the Clarke collection, was curated by Niamh O’Sullivan.
