30 June 2016: ‘Eve of Somme’ service, St Mathew’s Church, Irishtown, Dublin 4
On Thursday 30 June 2016 St Mathew’s Church (Church of Ireland), Irishtown, Dubin 4 in association with St Patrick’s Church (Roman Catholic), Ringsend, Dublin 4 held an ‘Eve of Somme’ service at 7.30pm to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the Battle of the Somme. The service consisted of reflective readings and poetry, and a list of those who lost their lives from Irishtown, Sandymount, Ringsend and Donnybrook was on display and was read out.
