3 November 2018: ‘Pioneering women in Irish history’, Tuam, Co. Galway

On Saturday 3 November the Old Tuam Society and Galway County Council presented a one-day conference entitled ‘Pioneering women in Irish history’, to mark the centenary of the achievement of female suffrage for women over 30, with property rights or a university education. Speakers included John Cunningham (NUIG), Geraldine Curtin, and Micheline Sheehy-Skeffington (NUIG). There was also be a display by the Irish Workhouse Centre, Portumna on the lives of women of the workhouse.

The conference was held in the Corralea Court Hotel, Tuam, Co. Galway. Download the full programme and booking details.

This conference was part funded by Galway County Council, Galway Decade of Commemoration 2013-2013 and Creative Ireland under Galway County Council Cultural and Creativity Strategy.
