3 November 2018: ‘Pioneering women in Irish history’, Tuam, Co. Galway
On Saturday 3 November the Old Tuam Society and Galway County Council presented a one-day conference entitled ‘Pioneering women in Irish history’, to mark the centenary of the achievement of female suffrage for women over 30, with property rights or a university education. Speakers included John Cunningham (NUIG), Geraldine Curtin, and Micheline Sheehy-Skeffington (NUIG). There was also be a display by the Irish Workhouse Centre, Portumna on the lives of women of the workhouse.
