3 May 2017: Sean McLoughlin commemoration, North King St, Dublin 1 and Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin 11
On 3 May 2017 a commemorative event took place in memory of Sean McLoughlin, the Irish Volunteer who co-ordinated the final surrender of the GPO garrison during the Easter Rising. It began at 6.15pm in Glasnevin Cemetery, and a bus took those attending to the first part of the ceremony on North King St, where McLoughlin was born, and incorporating a wreath-laying, pipers lament, and the unveiling of a plaque. The event then returned to Glasnevin for the unveiling of a plaque, a short ceremony near the Sigerson Monument, and a lecture on the life of McLoughlin.
