27 October 2017: ‘The Irish contribution to the Great War in Belgium’, Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum, Lisburn

On Friday 27 October, as part of the Irish Linen Centre & Lisburn Museum’s Autumn talks programme, Piet Chielens, director of In Flanders Fields Museum gave a lecture on ‘The Irish contribution to the Great War in Belgium’. This will provided an overview of the part played by Irish regiments from the first month of the war, with a focus on the roles taken by the 16th (Irish) and 36th (Ulster) divisions in 1917 and of the Ulster Division in 1918, from the German Spring offensive to the final advance in Flanders.
