26 January 2019: ‘1919: Birth of a counter-state’, DCU St Patrick’s Campus, Dublin 9

On Saturday 26 January DCU hosted a seminar entitled ‘1919: Birth of a counter state’. This explored the beginnings of the Irish War of Independence and the establishment of the structures of a counter state with the foundation of the first Dáil Éireann in January 1919. Speakers included Catriona Crowe, Anne Dolan (TCD); Cecilié Gordon (Irish Military Archives); Dr Marnie Hay (DCU); Mary McAuliffe (UCD); David McCullagh (RTÉ); Ronan McGreevy (Irish Times); William Murphy (DCU); Daithí Ó Corráin (DCU). The seminar took place from 10am to 4pm at DCU St Patrick’s Campus.
