On Thursday 26 January 2017 Glasnevin Trust and Trinity College Dublin presented the first in a series of lectures on ‘Ireland and the world after the Rising’. Brian Hanley will give a lecture entitled ‘The Rising and its aftermath in Phibsborough and Glasnevin, 1916-17’. The area around Phibsborough and Glasnevin was a hotbed of radical activity in the run up to 1916. During the Rising itself fighting took place in Phibsborough with the British using artillery for the first time in Dublin. Many activists who lived locally also played an important role in rebuilding the republican movement in the year after the Rising.
The lecture took place at 7pm in Glasnevin Cemetery Museum. Follow this link for information on the lecture series.
