25 April 2015: New Zealand Irish Association commemoration of centenary of ANZAC Day, Irish Film Institute, Dublin 2

20130421_AK_N1015025_0038-300x200On Saturday 25 April 2015 the New Zealand Ireland Association (NZIA) hosted a screening of rare photographic and film footage uniquely curated for the NZIA to mark the centenary of the landings at Gallipoli in 1915. In a world-first cinematic experience, the event also included a satellite broadcast of the centenary ANZAC Dawn Service from Gallipoli.

The event tok place at the Irish Film Institute (IFI) on ANZAC Day, Saturday, 25 April 2015 from 11.15am to 14.00pm.

PROGRAMME

11.15—11.30: Arrival at IFI and welcome refreshments in IFI Foyer

11.45: Programme starts in IFI Cinema 1 (258 seats)

  • Rare ANZAC archive stills with live musical accompaniment by Morgan Cooke

12.00: Welcome and introduction

12.10:Programme of archive material:

  • Introduction by Lar Joye, National Museum of Ireland

Irish film content:

  • Screen: Easter Rising, Dublin, 1916
  • With live musical accompaniment

Gallipoli content:

  • Screen: Heroes of Gallipoli
  • With live musical accompaniment

13.00: Satellite broadcast screening of the centenary ANZAC Dawn Service from Gallipoli, Turkey
