On Saturday 23 January 2016 Dublin City University hosted a one-day event entitled ‘1916 in context: a public symposium’, organised by the School of History & Geography at DCU’s St Patrick’s Campus. This saw experts from across the country explain and illustrate the key political, cultural and military developments. This public symposium made accessible to a general audience scholarship of the various aspects of life in Ireland a century ago.
