22-23 January 2016: ‘Proclaiming the Revolution’, NUI Galway

1916-ProclamationOn Friday 22 and Saturday 23 January 2016 NUI Galway hosted a conference entitled ‘Proclaiming the Revolution’, which will focus on the 1916 proclamation, it’s ideological underpinnings, and the significance of its tenets during the revolutionary period. Speakers included Brian Hanley, Sinead McCoole, W.J. McCormack, Conor McNamara, Emmet O’Connor and Eamon Ó Cúiv TD. Key issues to be addressed include republicanism, gender, equality and perspectives on division and unity. Download the full conference programme.

This conference formed part of NUI Galway’s 2016 centenary programme, A nation rising, , and was organised by Dr. Mary N. Harris and Tony King (History).
