On Wednesday 19 October 2016 the National Library of Ireland hosted the second in a series of public interviews considering the relevance of the 1916 proclamation: is it seen now as an inspirational text or as a historical document?
A diverse and distinguished list of speakers will give their individual responses, in an interview series that aims to engage, inspire and provoke discussion. Each interview will be moderated by historian and broadcaster Dr John Bowman, whose latest book is Ireland, the autobiography. The second interviewee, on 19 October, was Prof. Gearóid Ó Tuathaigh (NUI Galway).
