17 February 2016: ‘A state of chassis’: ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances in Dublin in 1916, Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin 8
On Wednesday 17 February 2016 the Church of Ireland Historical Centenaries Working Group marked the centenary of the Easter Rising with an evening seminar considering the lives of ‘ordinary’ people in Dublin at the time of the Easter Rising, living at a time when, as Sean O’Casey put it, many felt they were living through a confusing ‘state of chassis’.
The keynote speakers were Prof. Keith Jeffrey (QUB) and Dr Fearghal McGarry (QUB), and Dr Jason McElligott (Marsh’s Library). The event was chaired by Dr John Bowman, and took place in the Music Room of Christ Church Cathedral from 7.30pm. Further details can be found here.
