On 16 February 2017 Mid-Antrim Museums Service in association with Causeway Museums Service presented a one-day seminar entitled ‘On the brink: the politics of conflict. Share the learning’ seminar, This is the final seminar for the ‘On the Brink: The Politics of Conflict 1914- 16’, a three-year project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and discussed the following themes:
- How can we best deliver heritage projects dealing with contested histories?
- The role of the Volunteer in heritage projects
The keynote conference speaker was Dr Johnston McMaster, lecturer and co-ordinator of the Education for Reconciliation programme, Irish School of Ecumenics, Belfast, whose areas of research include reconciliation and peacebuilding and ethical remembering. There were also interactive break-out sessions including Volunteer’s virtual tours, ‘On the Brink’ round table workshops and a closing panel discussion with invited guests.
The seminar ran from 9.30am to 3.45pm at Drumalis Retreat and Conference Centre, 47 Glanarm Road, Larne, Co. Antrim BT401DT.
