13-15 May 2016: ‘Ireland’s women: revolution and remembrance’, Lissadell, Co. Sligo

cm-2-for-web-1From Friday 13 May to Sunday 15 May Sligo Field Club presented a three day conference entitled ‘Ireland’s women: revolution and remembrance, at Lissadell, Co. Sligo. The conference brought together the most significant and erudite historians of the work of women in achieving revolutionary change in Ireland and abroad. Beginning at 7pm on Friday 13 May and concluding at 5pm on Sunday 15 May, the conference featured talks ranging from revolution to romance, sisterly support and politics, links to the art world, theatre and literature and death, as well as featuring plays and music. Speakers included Mary McAuliffe, Eve Morrison, Sonja Tiernan and Margaret Ward.The conference will be chaired by journalist and broadcaster, Olivia O’Leary.
