11 December 2018: ‘Dáil Éireann: the first 100 years, 1919—2019’, Royal Irish Academy, Dublin 2
On Tuesday 11 December 2018 the Royal Irish Academy presented a one-day conference in partnership with the Houses of the Oireachtas to mark the centenary of the establishment of Dáil Éireann. The conference was being held during the week of the centenary of the 1918 general election, and will commence the Irish Government’s programme of events to commemorate the centenary of Dáil Éireann, which first sat in the Mansion House on 21 January 1919.
The conference incorporated a range of panel discussions with a diverse range of academics and commentators, covering the origins, evolution, development and future of Dáil Éireann. It also showcased new research resources on display, produced in partnership with the National Archives of Ireland, the University of Limerick and the Houses of the Oireachtas
