11 May 2017: Launch of ‘County Louth and the Irish revolution, 1912-1923’, Millmount Museum, Drogheda, Co. Louth

On May 2017 Irish Academic Press presented the first launch of County Louth and the Irish Revolution, 1912-1923, edited by Donal Hall and Martin Maguire. This new multi-author local history of the county during the revolutionary period explores the local activism of the IRA, and how revolution was experienced by rural and urban labourers, republicans, the RIC, women, cultural activists, and aristocratic families. It also addresses the developing reality of partition, transforming a marginal county into a borderland and creating a zone of new violence and banditry.

The first launch of the book took place at 7pm on Thursday 11 May in Millmount Museum, Drogheda and was addressed by Frank Aiken.
