10 November 2017: ‘Remember the brave: a unique evening of music and poetry’, St Mary’s Church, Haddington Road, Dublin 4

On Friday 10 November 2017 St Mary’s Church, Haddington Road, Dublin 4 hosted a commemorative performance by Lassus, Dublin Choral Foundation’s flagship professional choir, entitled ‘Remember the Brave’. This blended together music, poetry and readings to commemorate those who died in the Great War, particularly those from St Mary’s Parish whose names are listed on the memorial plinth in the church itself. The event, which was directed by Ita O’Donovan, had a particular focus on the poems of Francis Ledwidge and Patrick Kavanagh, and also incorporated choral works based on poems by Ledwidge and, amongst others, Thomas Ashe, along with readings of the work of Ledwidge, Kavanagh, Thomas Kettle, Patrick Pearse, and Joseph Mary Plunkett.

The concert took place at St Mary’s Church, Haddington Road, on Friday, November 10 2017 at 7.00pm.
