1 October 2014: Church of Ireland Gazette for 1914 made available online

As part of its ongoing contribution to the ‘Decade of Centenaries’, the Representative Church Body Library has digitised all editions of the Church of Ireland Gazette for 1914, and has made them available to researchers as an open access online database. This follows on from the digitisation and online release of the Church of Ireland Gazette for 1913, and the Representative Church Body Library hopes to seek funding to continue the project to cover the remaining years of the First World War and the years 1919-1923. Ultimately, it is intended to make all issue of the Gazette, originally published in 1852, freely available online.

The Gazette was written and read by both clerical and lay members of the church, and offers an invaluable insight into the Church of Ireland community across the island, with the First World War naturally being prominent in many of the editions of 1914
